Man allegedly attacked woman while she was holding a three-year-old child

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) has arrested the man accused of assaulting a woman while she was holding a three-year-old child.

Kalen Temple, 24, was arrested Thursday night after fleeing from officers responding to a domestic disturbance call in the 9000 block of Cedar Grove Road Wednesday night.

Temple faces several charges, including assault, abuse and strangulation.

Deputy Colonel Alex Payne said ground troops and drones were deployed to search nearby woods on Wednesday evening, but Temple evaded capture.

The area is heavily forested and the darkness made searching difficult late at night.

A man who lives in the area told WAVE News that it would have been easy for Temple to avoid arrest in the area.

“There's just a lot of dense woods and back roads,” said Bullitt County resident David Williams. “It would be pretty easy for a guy to hide. Very easy.”

BCSO has received numerous tips from other nearby residents.

“We also had tips from neighbors who had seen him in the area, so we followed up on those leads,” Payne said. “We actually had a picture of him on a trail camera.”

Temple had already been convicted of eleven crimes in 2021, including drug and theft offenses, as well as fleeing from police.

About two weeks ago, he was placed under mandatory reintegration supervision.

Temple is currently being held at the Bullitt County Detention Center.

The identity of the victim has not been released, but police say neither she nor her child suffered serious injuries.
