Alex Volkanovski boldly predicts Sean O'Malley vs. Merab Dvalishvili

Regarding UFC Championship fights, Sean O’Malley Comparisons Merab Dvalishvili at UFC306 is one of the most fascinating in recent history.

Bantamweight champion O'Malley is perhaps one of the most dangerous and precise strikers in UFC history, and Dvalishvili is perhaps the most relentless. Aptly nicknamed “The Machine,” Dvalishvili set a record-breaking pace on his way to the title, attempting 49 takedowns against Petr Yan alone.

On the other hand, “Suga” has separated himself from the pack, most recently dominating Marlon Vera in a five-round fight in March at UFC 299. The 29-year-old Arizonan was severely underestimated on his way to gold, and many believe that Dvalishvili is as tough a challenger as there is to face, despite his 90% decision rate in the UFC.

Former featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski shares this opinion and gave his official prediction for the fight on YouTube on September 11th.

“I don't care how good your foot game is, you're not going to be able to keep Merab off you if you don't put his lights out,” Volkanovski explained. “…Merab is going to take him down eventually, no matter what. … The only way I can see him losing is if he gets knocked out. … I have to bet on Merab.”
