Minneapolis police have arrested a woman after she threatened residents of a homeless shelter and reportedly damaged the shelter building and a vehicle.

What we know

According to police, the incident occurred on the evening of September 5 in the 2600 block of Russell Avenue North. An argument between residents of a women's and children's shelter and people from an apartment building on the same block resulted in “physical violence.”

The accommodation and a vehicle belonging to a resident of the accommodation were damaged during the altercation, authorities said.

A 33-year-old woman was arrested for her involvement in the fight and damaging the shelter and vehicle. Police say she is seeking criminal damage and riot charges.

What we don’t know

Police did not provide any information about what led to the altercation or what the two parties were arguing about.

No other victims or suspects are currently known, but police are working to locate additional victims and suspects.

What they say

“This incident was disturbing and involved multiple levels of potential criminality, which has made this ongoing investigation labor intensive,” said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara. “I am grateful to the investigators who worked diligently to achieve today's findings. I am confident that this investigation will continue to its logical conclusion and as a result, there may be additional arrests.”
