Amber Portwood criticizes critics who accused her of murdering Gary Wayt

Amber Portwood will not forget the critics who have caused more harm than help to ex-fiancés Gary Wayt's disappearance.

On Thursday, September 12, episode of Teen Mom: The Next ChapterThe cameras rolled after 34-year-old Portwood learned from police that her 39-year-old Wayt had been found safe and sound after being missing for several days.

“This man broke me,” she told the executive producer Kiki Malone before an appointment with a psychiatrist. “I was stable. Right now is the first time in my life in years – I'm 34 – that I'm not feeling well because a man put a ring on my finger. You broke me because we were actually in love.”

On June 11, police confirmed that Wayt had been reported missing from a small town in North Carolina. Three days later, authorities updated their Facebook post about Wayt to confirm that he was “found.” There were no further updates and the case was closed.

“The day that man left for no reason – I say for no reason because there was no damn reason – he ruined something so damn good. Why am I being persecuted?”

In what Portwood described as a “trauma response,” the MTV reality star addressed all critics who made false claims online that she may have hurt Wayt.

“Why am I being persecuted? 'We know Amber killed him,'” she said, referring to negative comments circulating online. “I had to deal with that. Do you know how it feels when people call you a murderer to your damn fiancé?”

“He doesn't know what he did,” Portwood added tearfully. “They called me a murderer. They said I fucking killed him.”

When she met her doctor, the former 16 and pregnant The star said she had a “really bad episode” and was unable to think clearly. (Portwood had previously been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and bipolar disorder.)

During her appointment, Portwood expressed how hurt she was by the whole situation.

“If you want to show what heartbreak is, this is it,” she said through tears. “It's not just about one man. He saw my family, my daughter, and just wanted to be one big, happy family.”

In August, a report claimed Wayt was engaged to a new woman. While Portwood sent her ex “congratulations,” a source exclusively told Us She was still processing the turn of events.

“She is still in shock from this tumultuous experience,” the insider shared. “As long as Gary realizes he will always be Amber's ex, good luck.”
