Birmingham man arrested after traffic stop in which drugs and money are confiscated

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Alabama (WBRC) – A Birmingham man was arrested by Jefferson County officials on Sept. 11 following a traffic stop.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said a traffic stop led to the arrest of 54-year-old Shelly Lee Jones after several narcotics and over $2,000 were seized.

According to the authorities, the following items were confiscated:

  • 40 grams of Soma (71 pills in total)
  • 20 grams of oxycodone tablets (47 tablets in total)
  • 10 grams of Dilaudid pills (10 pills total)
  • 110 grams of promethazine
  • 40 grams of marijuana
  • 47 Suboxone strips
  • $2,102

Jones is accused of:

  • Drug trafficking
  • Unlawful possession of a controlled substance
  • Unlawful possession of marijuana 1st degree

According to authorities, Jones is currently free on bail from the Jefferson County Jail.
