FedEx is sued for mistreatment of disabled workers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphis-based transportation company FedEx is named in a lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

The lawsuit alleges that FedEx violated federal law when it failed to provide reasonable accommodations for disabled workers.

According to the EEOC, FedEx has maintained and enforced a 100 percent recovery policy toward ramp transport drivers since November 29, 2019.

The EEOC also alleges that when the company learned of health limitations, it assigned one of its drivers to a temporary, lighter assignment for 90 days.

The original plaintiff who filed the complaint that triggered the EEOC investigation was a ramp transport driver who worked at a FedEx facility in Minneapolis.
