Cast and Character Guide for “The Million Dollar Heist”

Peacocks Fight Night: The Million Dollar Robbery based is based on a true story, explained in a Podcast by Will Packer and iHeart Media. The Podcast was co-written by Jim Roberts and Jeff Keating, whose production company Doghouse Pictures also supported the project.

Keating hosted the podcast, and executive producers were Dan Bush, Lars Jacobson and Kenny Burns. Packer and James Lopez, president of Will Packer Productions, were co-producers. The podcast and now the television show direct the spotlight to Muhammad Ali returns to the boxing ring after a three-year suspension to face Jack Quarry in Atlanta on October 26, 1970. Celebrities such as Diana Ross, Sidney Poitier and Arthur Ashe attended the sporting event.

As the second part of the title suggests, an after-party following the brawl saw a major armed robbery. An all-star cast has come together to portray the events of that night. See who is in Peacock's Fight Night: The Million Dollar Robbery below:

Gordon “Chicken Man” Williams (Kevin Hart)

There were rumors that Gordon “Chicken Man” Williams was a schemer and drug dealer. He organized the party where the robbery took place on the night of Ali's fight. According to the New York Times, police initially suspected Williams of planning the robbery to pay off a large debt. He owned the house where the after-party and robbery took place.

Kevin Hart is known for his role as Dante Slate Jr. in Grudge Match (2013), Ben Barber in Ride along (2014), Calvin Joyner in Central Intelligence (2016) and for the voice of Snowball in The secret life of pets (2016).
Vivian Thomas (Taraji P. Henson)

Vivian Thomas was Chicken Man’s right-hand woman and lover.

Taraji P. Henson is known for her role as Cookie Lyon alongside Terrence Howard’s Lucious in Richa television series that ran from 2015 to 2020. She was nominated for several Emmys for this role. She recently played Shug Avery in The color purple (2023).
Muhammad Ali (Dexter Darden)

Muhammad Ali, the famous boxer and activist who was born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr., later changed his name when he converted to Islam. The show is set in the context of his comeback fight in 1970s Atlanta.

Dexter Darden played Frypan in the three Maze Runner films based on the books by James Dashner. He also played Walter Hill in Joyful Noise. His other major TV credit is Devante Young in the Saved by the Bell reboot.
Frank Moten (Samuel L. Jackson)

Frank Moten was known as “The Black Godfather” or a supposed member of the Black Mafia Family. He was a guest at the after-party. The Root cited him as a powerful crime boss who was rumored to be one of the leaders of the Council of 12, the bosses of the black underworld.

Samuel L. Jackson also contributed knowledge, as he was living in Atlanta at the time of the robbery. He is known for his role as Nick Fury in many Marvel projects and recently appeared in Apple's Argyll. He will next be seen in The piano lesson Film adaptation directed by Malcolm Washington.
“Cadillac Richie” Wheeler (Terrence Howard)

Cadillac Richie Wheeler was another mobster and member of the Council of 12 who worked closely with Frank Moten. The Fight Night podcast pointed out that Wheeler's crime of choice was armed robbery, although he was also involved in drugs and “number scams.”

Howard is known for his role as Lucious Lyon in Empire. Howard originally played Rhodey in the first Iron-Man (2008) Movie before Fight Night Co-star Don Cheadle took over the reins. He also played Cameron in crash (2004), DJ in Hectic and flow (2005) and Lt. Green in Four brothers (2005).
JD Hudson (Don Cheadle)

John Davis “JD” Hudson was the first black detective in the desegregated Atlanta Police Department. He was responsible for Muhammed Ali's security on the night of the armed robbery and became the lead investigator in the case.

Don Cheadle is known for his role as Graham in crash (2004), Paul Rusesabagina in Hotel Rwanda (2004), FBI agent Wendell Everett in The Guard (2011) and Miles Davis in Miles ahead (2015). He will also appear in Unstoppable (2024) as Coach Shawn Charles. He took over the role of Rhodey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from Iron-Man 2 (2010).
Faye Williams (Artrece Johnson)

Faye is Chicken Man's wife and mother of their three children. She doesn't ask for much, but from time to time she asks Chicken Man to get involved in the community.

Artrece Johnson has appeared in FBI: Most Wanted And P-Tal.
Delores Hudson (Marsha Stephanie Blake)

Delores is the wife of JD Hudson. She was a teacher in the Dekalb County Public School District – later in the Atlanta Public School District. She and JD had two children.

Lena Mosley (Chloe Bailey)

Lena Mosley is a key figure in the armed robbery.

Chloe Bailey rose to fame as one half of the singing duo Chloe x Halle, along with her sister Halle Bailey. She has since appeared in Last Holiday and Grownish, as well as Swarm.
