Power restored for thousands of customers in the Pine Belt

PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) – Many residents across the Pine Belt have power back after line crews restored power to customers of seven power companies in southern Mississippi.

Hurricane Francine, which passed through the region Wednesday night and Thursday morning, cut off power to more than 17,000 residents in the southern part of the state.

Teams from seven power companies in the Pine Belt immediately set out to restore power.

Here are the outage numbers as of Thursday 5:05 p.m.:

In the Pine Belt, customers in Covington, Jasper, Jones and Smith counties are most affected by power outages.

  • Forest: 0
  • Green: 1
  • Jaspers: 336
  • Jefferson Davis: 1
  • Jones: 3
  • Lamar: 1
  • Marion: 12
  • Perrys: 0
  • Blacksmith: 196
  • Wayne: 5

Across the state, 7,081 people are still without power.
