  • Special Guest Announces He Will Be Attending Jackson Day on Sunday

JACKSON, NJ—This year's Jackson Day has been heralded as the best ever, but we're about to see a Jackson Day like no one has ever done before. Others have tried, but no one has managed to do it. The previous Jackson Days have been good, but you're about to see a Jackson Day like no one has ever done before.

Donald Trump will be in the House on Jackson Day. Well-known Trump impersonator Bob DiBuono will appear at the Team Trump table, sponsored by the Jackson Township Republican Club.

DiBuono, who has been featured on several major television networks and in national newspapers, is expected to appear at the event throughout the day and take photos with fans and supporters.

The Jackson Republican Club says game times will be posted on its Facebook page.

Mordechai Burnstein, a Jackson City Councilman and member of the New Jersey GOP delegation to the RNC convention in Milwaukee, said he looks forward to meeting Jackson residents at DiBuono's appearances.

"This is a pivotal year for America and for Jackson," Burnstein said. "We were proudly named the 'Trumpiest Town in New Jersey' the last two elections and this year our goal is to help Trump win New Jersey. We want to make sure that voters in Jackson vote for Trump in even greater numbers this year because they don't discuss it much, but New Jersey could play a role this year."

Burnstein, who is also president of the Jackson GOP, said his campaign team has secured hundreds of "Trump 2024" yard signs to distribute at the Team Trump GOP booth on Jackson Day. Distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis, but Burnstein said there will be multiple deliveries throughout the day.

This year marks the annual Jackson Day community celebration, bringing residents together for a day of activities and entertainment. The event is open to the public and admission is free.

Comedian DiBuono is considered one of the most authentic and funniest Trump impersonators in America.

Jackson Day will feature a basketball shoot-out tournament, giveaways from sponsors, live entertainment, food, games and merchandise. There will also be a craft and flea market and information booths for visitors.

The event will conclude with a drone show, providing a unique visual experience for those in attendance. Organizers encourage residents to attend and enjoy the day's festivities.

The Team Trump table is not affiliated with Jackson Township and is organized by the Jackson GOP.

Jackson Day takes place all day Sunday at Johnson Park in Jackson Township.

  • Ocean County man sentenced to 50 years in prison for murdering his wife and disposing of her body

FREEHOLD, NJ — An Ocean County man was sentenced to 50 years in prison for strangling his wife and dumping her body on the side of a road in Ocean Township, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago. The verdict was announced Friday.

Jeremy B. Cruz, 53, of Forked River, was sentenced on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, for first-degree murder before Judge Jill G. O'Malley in Monmouth County Superior Court.

Under New Jersey's No Early Release Act (NERA), Cruz must serve at least 85% of his sentence before he can be released on parole.

Police found his wife's body on the side of the road.

"On Sunday, October 30, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a woman who appeared to have sustained serious injuries was observed by a concerned motorist at the intersection of Asbury Avenue and Colonial Avenue in the Township of Ocean. When officers from the Ocean Township Police Department arrived, they located the victim, identified as Dawn Cruz, who was pronounced dead at the scene," police reported at the time.

Cruz was convicted of murder on April 24, 2024, after a trial before Judge O'Malley.

The incident occurred on October 30, 2022, when a motorist discovered the body of 51-year-old Dawn C. Cruz, who had suffered serious injuries, on Colonial Avenue near Asbury Avenue in Ocean Township. Officers who arrived pronounced her dead at the scene.

Around the same time, Jeremy Cruz turned himself in to authorities at the Berkeley Township Police Department in Ocean County. A joint investigation by the Monmouth County District Attorney's Office and several law enforcement agencies led to his arrest and subsequent indictment in January 2023.

During the trial, the state successfully refuted Cruz's defense that he was drunk at the time of the murder.
