Mother charged with domestic murder after her two sons die in the Blue Mountains

The mother of two boys who were allegedly stabbed to death in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney on Tuesday has been charged with murder.

Emergency services were called to a house on Chapman Parade in Faulconbridge following a report of welfare concerns.

Police believe the bodies of the two boys, aged nine and eleven, were found by the boys' father in their home.

The 42-year-old woman was also found in the house. She had allegedly inflicted self-stab wounds.

Following the incident, she was taken to Westmead Hospital under police guard in a critical but stable condition.

Police said she was released from hospital on Friday and taken to Parramatta Police Station where she was charged with two counts of domestic violence-related murder.

She was denied bail and is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

“Panthers fans through and through”

The brothers were loyal supporters of the Penrith Panthers and on Friday night the team paid tribute to the two boys, who were described by their family as “Panthers fans through and through”.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Panthers members,” they wrote on social media before their semi-final game.

“Our thoughts are with their family and friends during this incredibly difficult time and we will be thinking of the boys during the NRL finals.”

In an accompanying message, the boys' family said they were heartbroken but wanted their memory to live on through the club.

“Rest in peace you wonderful boys. We love you and were amazed by the incredible spirit you brought to every game and that will live on in our hearts forever.”

On Thursday, the boys' father spoke for the first time since the incident, describing his sons as “happy, funny, outgoing boys” and very popular.

“Like other boys their age, they loved sport, football, the Penrith Panthers, fishing, books, music and spending time with their friends and their puppy Max,” he said in a New South Wales Police statement.
