Three dead and 18-year-old arrested in ‘truly horrific’ incident in Luton

A teenager has been arrested after three people were found dead in a building in Luton on Friday morning.

Police were called at 3.30am following reports of welfare concerns at a Leabank apartment and found three people injured.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, all three were pronounced dead at the scene and a murder investigation was launched.

Shortly afterwards, an 18-year-old man was arrested on Bramingham Road and is in police custody for questioning.

The Serious Crime Unit for the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire has now launched an investigation.

Detective Superintendent Rob Hall said: “This is a truly horrific incident which has unfortunately resulted in the tragic deaths of three people.

“We understand this news will be incredibly shocking, but please be assured that we will work tirelessly to establish the full circumstances surrounding these deaths.

“A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and we do not believe there is a threat to the wider community.

“However, we are aware of people's concerns and will therefore have an increased presence of community police officers in the area and surrounding areas today and over the coming days to answer questions and provide reassurance.”
