'Open rape threats': Bengaluru woman reports another incident of road rage, claims in social media post | Bengaluru

A Bengaluru resident has raised concerns about road safety and public order following a harrowing encounter on Kathriguppe Road on Thursday. The woman narrated her ordeal on social media and said she received “open rape threats” from a man travelling in an autorickshaw.

According to the social media post, the person was driving along Kathriguppe Road when an autorickshaw suddenly swerved from left to far right, almost colliding with two other vehicles and causing a pile-up. The autorickshaw driver continued driving recklessly without noticing the dangerous maneuver, the post said.

The situation escalated when a young man from the autorickshaw approached the woman's vehicle at a red light. The passenger, described as being around 21 or 22 years old, allegedly confronted the woman with a barrage of insults and threats and attempted to smash the window and break down the door while surrounded by onlookers.

“When the light turned red, a young man came up to me in a car. He insulted me, my mother and my whole family. In beautiful, flowery words. He called us both prostitutes, explained to me in detail all the positions in which we would have sexual intercourse with men and then showed me how he would give me oral pleasure (with his tongue between his fingers),” the post said.

“He seemed to assume I didn't know the language, so his insults got even more colorful until the light turned green and he said that if the video I had taken of his misbehavior ever got out to the public, he would kill me and my entire family after raping us,” the woman added in the post.

The woman has also presented the footage of the incident to the police and expressed her deep concern over the lack of immediate assistance from the authorities. She added that she even temporarily left the city because she felt unsafe, citing a lack of clarity and urgency in police communications.

“If you can help, please do so. If not, please stay away. This is the nicest way I can ask you not to spread any woke nonsense in this post. This is about safety. Nothing else. This is about inciting violence for no good reason,” the woman continued.

This incident has raised broader questions of safety and public decency in Bengaluru, given the rising number of road rage incidents. Many residents are now demanding better enforcement of traffic laws and greater accountability for those who engage in violent or reckless behaviour on the roads.
