TikTok-Viral Pukami Criss-Cross Desk Chair Review 2024

One thing about me? I don't try to look cute while I work. As a writer/editor, I have to change my focus mode To for long periods of the day, and I just don't care how I look to an outsider. So my fiancé has to see me with my mouth wide open, eyes squinted, and legs twisted like a contortionist when I work from home. It's not my best look, but I need to be comfortable. I need to be myself. And that's what led me to snag the Pukami Classic Criss-Cross Chair a few weeks ago.

You've probably heard of this chair before – and if you haven't, you've probably seen it on your FYP. The amazingly cheap Amazon find first went viral in 2023 and has been loved by fidgety workers who prefer sitting cross-legged rather than being forced to sit with their feet on the floor (🙋). As you can see from the pictures, the armless design and wide seat are the perfect place to put your butt on Plus a tangle of legs and feet… and to say people are excited about it would be an understatement.

I've been testing this bad boy for nearly a month now to see what all the hype is about, and I have a full review for you below (er, maybe I'm sitting in the chair right now as I write these words, maybe not). Read on to find out the pros and cons, as well as my final verdict on whether it's worth it.

Per

That! Price!

I can barely buy a Friday dinner for under $55 at Seamless, let alone a piece of furniture, so to say the Pukami chair is a bargain would be the understatement of the century. The list price is $94.99, and the beige one (which I have) is currently 41% off, at $55.99. However, the price fluctuates frequently—in the last few months, it's been anywhere between $47 and $60. I don't have to tell you this, but that's pretty damn cheap. Especially compared to other office chairs on the market.

It is easy to assemble

I'm not going to lie – I had my fiancĂ© build this chair for me. I mean, if I attach the chair, he has to assemble it, that's the rules. Still, I watched (to research) and from what I saw, it wasn't difficult at all. All the tools were included and overall, the build from start to finish only took about half an hour, with maaaaar phone breaks in between. The only thing I will say is that the instructions recommend having an extra person on hand to help hold the back and cushion together while you screw them together. My fiancĂ© managed to do it alone (okay, DIY), but just so you know, it can be difficult alone!!

It is perfect for the fidgety Filipinos of the world

As I mentioned before, the seat on this bad boy broad– 25.5 inches wide, to be exact. It's also padded with high-resilience foam and wrapped in a skin-friendly twill fabric, making sitting on it – and then standing, then twisting, and then dressing up as a pretzel – an extremely comfortable experience. The armless design also means you can move around without restriction (good news for your knees), and the 360-degree rotation, 130-degree tilt, and 5-inch height adjustment let you get into the position that's perfect for you every time.

It is very aesthetic, obviously

Personally, I love the minimalist appeal of my 'Classic' beige seat, which features chic and simple upholstery on the base and backrest. I pulled the chair up to the head of my long black dining table (I live in the city, so 'desk' is a broad term) and it fits my aesthetic perfectly, especially since the black base matches the table.

Honestly, I think the beige would look good in pretty much any room you put it in, but it also comes in nine other colors so you can mix and match, as well as a few other styles – the “Contemporary” has a higher back and horizontal padding, for example, while the “Modern” only has padding on the back. I've listed a few other designs I like below, but take a look at the list and you'll see everything you have to choose from.

Disadvantages

It is not the the most ergonomic

Let's be honest: It's not good for your body to sit cross-legged for eight hours a day, especially not on a chair without armrests. (a) circulation in your legs could decrease and/or (b) your back could hurt from leaning forward. But it's not good to sit in any Stay in this position for long periods of time without moving, so pay attention to your posture and get up regularly to stretch.

Wheels cost extra

If rolling around is as important to you as fidgeting, then this chair might not be for you. This baby is immobile and has four heavy legs that stay in place wherever you put it, so not ideal if you like to bounce around your workstation all day long.

However, you can also grab a version of the Pukami Criss-Cross chair with wheels – it only costs a little more. The “traditional” style seat costs around $95, depending on the colorway, and the “casual” chair costs around $80 – both of which have five wheels along the base.

The conclusion

It's rare to find a desk chair that's both pretty, comfortable and affordable. In fact, it's downright impossible. But the Pukami Classic Criss-Cross Chair does just that. If I were you, I'd snap up this diamond in the rough while you still can (or before they raise the price…).

I'm actually thinking about buying another one and putting it in front of my dressing table so I can twirl and wiggle every morning before work while I do my hair and makeup. I thought about just moving the one from the dining room table to our bedroom, but… it's sort of my fiancĂ©'s favorite spot now. We trust Pukami!
