Marion police arrest 19-year-old after hours-long standoff following domestic incident Thursday afternoon – WKTN

A 19-year-old Marion resident was arrested Thursday morning following a standoff with Marion police.

According to a Marion Police press release, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of Olney Street to investigate a report of a domestic dispute.

The female victim was struck with a bottle and taken to Marion General Hospital, where she was later released.

The male suspect, 19-year-old Randy Johnson, did not respond to numerous attempts to get him to leave the house.

There were also arrest warrants against Johnson in another case in which he shot himself.

The Marion Combined Special Response Team was activated while attempts to contact Johnson and get him to leave the house continued.

On Thursday afternoon at 1:15 p.m., after numerous warnings, chemical warfare agents were brought into the house.

About 40 minutes later, Johnson was found hiding in the attic of the house and arrested.

He was taken to Marion General Hospital and medically evaluated before being booked into the Multi-County Correctional Center on aggravated assault charges and outstanding warrants.
