Man allegedly killed pigeons during disturbance incident at Storm Lake

A Storm Lake man was arrested after allegedly killing and injuring pigeons.

According to Storm Lake Police, officers were called to a disturbance at 728 Linden Lane around 8 p.m. yesterday (Thursday). Police were notified that 40-year-old Alfredo Sanchez Ramos was intoxicated and had injured pigeons on the property. Ramos was encountered on foot in the 700 block of Walnut Street. Police claim he showed signs of alcohol intoxication and refused to follow officers' orders.

Ramos allegedly physically resisted police when they attempted to arrest him. Two officers sustained minor injuries. Further investigation revealed that Ramos got into an argument with residents of Linden Lane. During the argument, two of the residents' pigeons were killed and another pigeon was seriously injured.

Ramos was charged with three counts of cruelty to animals, a misdemeanor, obstruction of public order causing bodily injury, a misdemeanor, and public intoxication, a misdemeanor. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on $7,300 bail.
