16-year-old arrested for threatening to carry out a school shooting in Marion County

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) – A 16-year-old Dunnellon High School student was arrested Friday morning for allegedly making threats against his school, following a series of similar arrests across the country.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office arrested 16-year-old Jason Moore for allegedly posting a video on Snapchat of himself holding what appeared to be a firearm with the text “HE'S BACK” in red lettering, according to the arrest report. A concerned student showed the video to school safety officer Randall Reed.

Reed questioned the student, who said the firearm was an airsoft rifle. During a search of the home, officers determined the weapon was an airsoft rifle, according to the police report. In fact, no firearms were found.

Moore has since been transferred to the juvenile justice department.

This is the fourth teenager arrested for making threats against schools in Florida.
