Justin Timberlake breaks his silence with a court-ordered mea culpa outside the courthouse after taking a deal in a drunk driving case

He brings back the suffering.

Justin Timberlake issued a submissive, court-ordered apology on Friday for getting behind the wheel in the Hamptons after consuming too much alcohol.

“This is a mistake I made, but I hope that everyone watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake,” said the former boy band heartthrob, who was sentenced to make the public statement as part of a plea deal for a lesser offense in the case.

“Don’t get behind the wheel, even if you’ve only had one drink.”

The “SexyBack” singer made the comments after pleading guilty to driving under the influence in a Sag Harbor courtroom on Friday, a lesser charge than the driving under the influence charge against him.

The agreement with the prosecution originally only called for a public apology, but Judge Carl Irace said that was not enough and decided on his own to sentence Timberlake to an additional 25 to 40 hours of community service.

Although it is not yet clear when the community service sentence will begin, the former NSYNC star made a statement outside the courthouse after the hearing.

During his three-minute address to the media, Timberlake admitted: “I try to hold myself to very high standards, but that was not the case here.”

The singer, wearing a dark grey cardigan, khaki pants and a double-strand pearl necklace, said he “could have made a different decision,” adding that he's had “some time to think about it” since the incident.

Timberlake then stressed a second time that no one should drive, even if they have only had one alcoholic drink, and urged people to look for other transportation options after consuming alcohol.

“There are so many alternatives,” he said. “Call a friend, take an Uber. There are so many travel apps. Take a taxi.”

“I'll close by saying that we could all be safer out there,” Timberlake added. “I'll do my part. I hope everyone else does their part. Thank you.”
