Fort Riley man arrested after crash that killed off-duty Clearwater police officer

WICHITA, Kansas (KWCH) – A Fort Riley man has been arrested in connection with a car crash that killed off-duty Clearwater police Officer Scott Hollingsworth in March.

Scott Hollingsworth died in the accident on his way home from work.

Geary County officials arrested 19-year-old Gage Kaiser on Tuesday and booked him into jail.

The Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office in August charged Kaiser with manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the fatal crash on March 16, 2024.

Clearwater police said Hollingsworth died when his car was struck by a truck whose driver failed to yield at a stop sign. Hollingsworth was on his way home after his shift.

Clearwater police said Hollingsworth had served the department for one year.

Kaiser is being held at the Geary County Detention Facility on $200,000 bail.
