Milar's murder trial begins on September 30

The murder trial of local man Antonio Milar is set to begin at the end of the month after no movement was made in the case at the last preliminary hearing on Thursday.

Milar will be arraigned in the Scioto County Common Pleas courtroom before Judge Howard H. Harcha III.

Milar is accused of shooting a 17-year-old local boy on May 31, 2023. Milar was arrested the next day and was hiding in a burned-out and abandoned building in the 1600 block of Sixth Street.

According to the Scioto County District Attorney's Office, the charges against him are one count of aggravated murder, two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault.

The three-day trial is scheduled to begin on September 30. He is being defended by local attorney Shawn Stratton. The prosecution is being represented by Scioto County District Attorney Shane Tieman and his deputy Matthew Loesch.

Milar is currently housed in the Scioto County Jail, where he has been since June 1, 2023.
