Police: Human remains found in Two Rivers belong to Elijah Vue | Top Stories

The human remains found last Saturday on private property in the town of Two Rivers belong to missing three-year-old Elijah Vue, Two Rivers police confirmed during a press conference Friday.

TWO RIVERS, Wis. (WKOW) — Human remains found on private property in Two Rivers last Saturday belong to missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue, Two Rivers police confirmed during a news conference Friday.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you today that these remains have been identified as those of Elijah Vue,” said Police Chief Ben Meinnert.

Vue had been missing since Feb. 20. His remains were found about 3 miles northwest of where he was originally reported missing, Meinnert said.

Meinnert said the area was searched several times by various search and rescue teams in the weeks and months following Elijah's disappearance.

“This is not the outcome we were hoping for,” Meinnert said. “The family is devastated, we are devastated, the community is devastated.”

Meinnert thanked the public, local businesses, churches and search groups for their support during the search.

Because of the clear identity, law enforcement authorities have converted the search for Elijah into a death investigation.

During the press conference on Friday, officials did not answer questions from the media.

Elijah was living with Katrina Baur's boyfriend, Jesse Vang, when he disappeared.

Vang told police that when he woke up from a nap on February 20, Elijah was missing.

Vang and Baur are both charged with child neglect.
