An accident involving a semi-trailer truck left two people hospitalized on Friday afternoon, caused a diesel spill and traffic delays on the Edens Expressway near Skokie.

Illinois State Police responded to a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 near Old Orchard shortly after 3 p.m.

The accident caused the truck to leak diesel fuel. All southbound lanes were closed at Old Orchard.

The truck caused a rear-end collision with a chain reaction, state police said. A hazardous materials response team had to be dispatched to clean up the spilled liquid.

A look at CBS Skywatch showed that the entire area of ​​the road where the accident occurred was littered with diesel fuel.

Two drivers were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.
