Man arrested on suspicion of killing another man in Longview shooting

LONGVIEW, Texas – A 23-year-old man accused of killing another man in Longview Friday morning has been charged with murder.

Eddie Floyd Hill Jr. of Gilmer was arrested Friday in Gilmer for the shooting death of 20-year-old Dequalin Vaughn of Longview. Vaughn died at the hospital after being shot around 10 a.m. in the 3100 block of McCann Road, according to Longview police.

Investigators were able to identify Hill as a suspect and also learned that he was wanted for a crime related to a case in Marshall. Hill was later found in Gilmer and booked into the Upshur County Jail.

In addition to the murder arrest, Hill is charged with illegal possession of a firearm and deadly conduct in the Marshall case, police said.

“The Longview Police Department would like to thank the Marshall Police Department, Harrison County Violent Crime Task Force, Texas Department of Public Safety and Gilmer Police Department for their assistance in the arrest of this suspect,” the LPD said in a Facebook post.
