Prosecutors dismiss murder charges against Detroit man after three mistrials

Wayne County prosecutors have dropped first-degree murder charges against a Detroit man who was unsuccessfully tried three times, each time failing to reach a consensus.

Prosecutor Emily Corwin said Friday it was in the interest of justice to drop the murder charge against Cameron Leflore.

Leflore's most recent jury trial ended in a miscarriage of justice on August 19 after the jury could not unanimously agree on a verdict. Prosecutors alleged he stabbed 23-year-old Gage Wann to death in Livonia after Wann approached Leflore, then 21, and a co-worker after work around 5:30 a.m. on May 25, 2021, and yelled racist epithets at them.
