Arkansas Attorney General announces measures to combat organized retail crime

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (KAIT/KARK) – Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin said a recent multi-state alliance to combat organized retail crime is paying off.

According to content partner KARK, Griffin said at a press conference Friday that the Organized Retail Crime Alliance, which consists of agents from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, is primarily targeting large retailers, but also some small retailers.

At the conference, Griffin provided an update on the number of arrests related to retail crime.

“Last month, coordinated blitzes in North Little Rock, Little Rock and Conway resulted in the arrest of 17 individuals involved in organized retail crime,” he said. “These operations also resulted in the recovery of stolen property.”

Griffin mentioned that agents may also come across things other than just store crime during their investigations, such as drugs or arrest warrants.

“You may be in it for retail crime, but you'll find other things happening too,” he said.
