Mets player Francisco Lindor replaced early due to back pain

PHILADELPHIA — An encouraging night for the Mets took an ominous turn Friday when Francisco Lindor was taken out of their game against the Phillies before the end of the seventh inning.

The shortstop grabbed his left knee after being caught on a rundown and slipped between second and third base to end the sixth inning.

However, the Mets announced that Lindor was suffering from lower back pain.

This came after National League MVP candidate Harrison Bader brought home a single to extend the Mets' lead over the Phillies to 7-0.

It was Lindor’s second hit of the evening.

He played the bottom of the sixth inning and took advantage of a grounder by Johan Rojas for the second out.

With Lindor out of the game, Jose Iglesias moved from second base to shortstop.

Newcomer Eddy Alvarez came into the game second.
