Bye! 19-year-old phenom Raul Rosas Jr. sets his retirement timeline ahead of UFC 306 at The Sphere

19-year-old bantamweight phenom Raul Rosas Jr., who cut his teeth as a minor on Dana White's Contender Series in late 2022, plans to overtake Jon Jones and become the youngest UFC champion in history.

“I just want to achieve my dreams, which is to be the youngest UFC champion, have the belt, defend the belt a couple of times and probably retire,” Rosas Jr. told ESPN MMA. “Hopefully by the time I'm 25, my career will be over and I can enjoy time with my family and do everything I do. I think I'm on the right path.”

Hopefully he has the energy to last that long, brother.

“This is my chance now,” Rosas Jr. continued. “This fight on Saturday will put me in a very good position with four wins in the UFC and four finishes. Right now I'm focused on that and whatever comes next, I'll be ready. After this fight I can get a big name, maybe a top 15 or a good name, a good test.”

To do this, Rosas Jr. must compete in the “Prelims” fight against the gruff Aoriqileng at “The Sphere” in Las Vegas this Saturday evening (September 14, 2024). A victory that could earn him an opponent in the top 15 of the bantamweight division in early 2025.
