Emily in Paris star Ashley Park talks about hosting the show in Italy, her favorite travel products and more

Filming every day in the Paris area sounds like a job that would be hard to beat – until you go to Italy.

“That was my favorite part of filming this season,” Emily in Paris Star Ashley Park recently said Travel + Leisure before the premiere of the second part of the current season. We shot in Paris in the winter and when we arrived in Italy it felt like we were finally in the beautiful summer and a slower lifestyle. It was a really nice atmosphere and mood [and] I think that's what the show will convey.”

The second part of this season takes the cast of the Netflix series – which includes Lily Collins – to Rome, where they find a new setting, a new cuisine and, of course, new drinks.

“At the end of every day, after we finished filming, everyone stayed at the location we were at and had an Aperol Spritz,” Park told T+L.

The iconic Italian drink — as well as lots of pasta — became part of her daily routine during filming after she finished work for the day, she told T+L.

“It was my Italian period of 'A' foods, I always joked,” she recalls. “I always had to eat the Roman artichokes and then an Aperol Spritz, whether I had pasta or whatever it was I had as a starter.”

And in a seemingly perfect combination, Park also teamed up with aperitif brand Aperol, which returned this year as the official partner of the US Open with its Tennis Capsule Collection inspired by the trendy drink.

Do you prefer French or Italian food?

Will I get fired? I mean, I love Italian food. It depends! When I eat with my boyfriend [Paul]it is what has the best options, [because] he is a celiac patient,

Favorite skincare or beauty products on the go?

I always have a sheet mask with me. I always have my Gua Sha and my FaceGymPro. I love U Beauty products and always have their Lip Plasma Compound with me. I've been so obsessed with water lately, especially when I'm traveling in Europe. Whenever I've been traveling in Europe, I've found that I go through so many water bottles, so now I just always carry a Stanley, one of those huge ones. They're big, but I feel so hydrated! I keep it in my carry-on now and fill it up as soon as I'm through security.

Hidden gem of a neighborhood or cafe in Paris?

I always go to Loulou for coffee. They have a beautiful terrace where you can see the Eiffel Tower. I love Café Charlot. It's just a perfect French bistro and many of us have lived in this area of Le Marais for a few seasons. My favorite sandwich in Paris is Chez Alain Miam Miam. It's this warm sandwich with the perfect recipe.

Aisle or window seat?

It depends on how long it takes and if I have to pee often, but I always love a spot by the window. As long as he's next to Paul, it's fine with me.

What do you absolutely have to have on the plane?

It depends on what I do on the plane. Headphones are a must. I always have to put Osea nerve oil on my temples and hands before take-off.

With “Emily” being taken out of Paris, Park, who plays her best friend Mindy Chen, was able to do some additional off-camera exploration with her boyfriend Paul Forman, who also plays her on-screen crush Nicolas de Léon.

“We went to Liguria and explored the area a bit,” she said. “I have always loved Positano, [and] all parts of Italy. While we were filming, I enjoyed exploring the city of Rome in my free time.”

When asked which country she would like Emily in Paris to take them next?

“I'm not very demanding,” she told T+L. “I definitely don't want to go anywhere cold. I don't want to film this show in the winter. I want to make sure everyone hears me. I want it to be the Italian lifestyle summer. Thank you.”
