The NKY family invites you to “Lily’s Lemonade Stand” to support the fight against childhood cancer

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A family in Northern Kentucky invites you to stop by for lemonade this weekend.

And it's not just any lemonade stand; it's Lily's Lemonade Stand, helping to fight bravely against childhood cancer.

When Lily Meagher was two years old, she was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor.

“She woke up on a Sunday morning and we couldn't really get her to get going,” said Sara Meaghan, Lily's mother.

After successful treatment with surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, Lily is now cancer-free. But since then, she hasn't stopped giving back to the team that saved her life.

“On Sunday we have a lemonade stand for children who are in the hospital,” Lily said.

Every year during September, which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Lily not only sells lemonade, but she also makes and sells beaded bracelets. She is now 15 and said her goal is to raise money that will go to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Cancer & Blood Institute.

Lily still needs your help. She is scheduled to have another operation in the fall.

“They decided she was a good candidate for surgery,” Sara said.

The procedure will hopefully help her control her seizures, which are a side effect of her treatment.

The address of this weekend's lemonade stand is 136 Man-O-War Court in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. If you can't make it there but would still like to help with a direct donation, click here.
