Chris Sale receives nomination for prestigious award, Travis d'Arnaud

For Atlanta Braves fans, it was a season to forget in 2024. The team has not lived up to expectations, and injuries have contributed to that. However, most of the poor performance can be attributed to the offense.

Atlanta's pitching has been among the best in baseball all season, but a weak offense hasn't allowed them to win as many games as they should have. Chris Sale has been the leader among Braves pitchers in this impressive season.

Chris Sale is nominated for MLB's prestigious Roberto Clemente Award

Since 1971, Major League Baseball has honored players for their philanthropic work with the Commissioner's Award. However, the award was renamed the Roberto Clemente Award in 1973 as a tribute to Clemente, who had tragically passed away.

The Roberto Clemente Award is presented annually to MLB players who best represent the game through exceptional character, community involvement, charity and positive contributions on and off the field.

Each team nominates a player worthy of the honor, and Chris Sale is Atlanta's choice in 2024. Not only is he the best pitcher in baseball this season with an impressive record of 16-3, 2.38 ERA, and 213 strikeouts. He's also one of the best off the field.

Sale has made a huge impact on the community, especially local children and military families. Each month during the season, Sale has offered deserving Braves fans a private pre-game hospitality room at Truist Park for a unique and unforgettable experience.

This season, he has welcomed families from Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Children's Miracle Network, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) and Camp Sunshine.

Sale has provided them with food and Braves merchandise, and he even spends time with the families taking pictures and signing autographs. He also played a big role in Lou Gehrig Day in Atlanta because it was personal to him, having lost his grandmother to ALS in 1995.

Fans can vote for Sale here until September 29th and reward Chris for his good work off the field.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that Chris Sale is this year's nominee, as he has been such a great presence on this team since he joined. He has always been known as a great teammate, but it's great to see what a great person he is as well.

He continues to be a bright spot for Atlanta in many ways and it will be a season that he and his fans will not soon forget.

Travis d'Arnaud was placed on the paternity list for the Braves on Monday afternoon

In other minor Braves news, catcher Travis d'Arnaud was placed on the paternity list after his wife went into labor on Monday. He was scheduled to be released on Wednesday, as that was her expected due date.

He was supposed to play on Monday, but instead he got the chance to welcome his third child into the world. According to Braves insiders, Travis is expected to be out until Friday's series against the Dodgers. In the meantime, Chadwick Tromp has been recalled from Gwinnett to replace Sean Murphy.

Tromp was with the team earlier this season when Murphy was injured and was a great replacement for the team. I'm sure he will do a great job again this time. Congratulations to the d'Arnaud family on the new addition to the family!
