One person in hospital after fight turns into shooting at Parkway Village Shopping Center | News

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – A fight escalated into a shooting outside a Parkway Village shopping center. Memphis police said the victim was in critical condition.

FOX13 obtained video showing the fight and the moments when the shots were fired. The clip shows a group of young men and women involved in a physical altercation. Yelling can be heard during the fight. A few moments later, shots are fired.

The video was provided to FOX13 by a witness who told us he saw what happened Friday afternoon. “I was in the store when we started hearing yelling. We walked out and on the other side of the tape there were six or seven people starting to fight,” the witness, who identified himself only as Mason, told us.

“I saw a guy running with a gun and then I heard a shot. We all ran inside and probably heard six shots in total.”

What caused the fight is still unclear.

“It was just shouting, and when I came outside, they were all hitting each other.”

The MPD said they received a call about a shooting in the 4600 block of Knight Arnold at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Police said when they arrived at the Village Plaza Shopping Center, the victim was not there.

FOX13 later learned that the victim was taken to the hospital via private vehicle. MPD reported that the person was seriously injured.

“I just found out there's blood at the other end of the mall. I guess a girl got hit by a car or something.”

Police have not released any information about a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
