James McAvoy says meeting his big celebrity Jennifer Aniston was “not that great”

James McAvoy was a little speechless when he met his celebrity crush, Jennifer Aniston.

On Wednesday, September 11, episode of See what's happening live with Andy CohenThe Speak no evil The 45-year-old star recalled meeting Aniston at a party when he moved to Los Angeles and said it didn't go well.

“I met her and it wasn't that great,” he said, quickly adding that it wasn't that great “because she's not that great.”

Rather, the Scottish star was completely fascinated by the impact of his stars.

“I was at a party when I was very young. I was about 22 in LA. And I met Lucy Liu and Lucy Liu was really, really nice to me. She said, 'Come and meet my friends.' There was a big group of her friends there and one of them happened to be Jennifer Aniston, and I got a seat right next to Jennifer Aniston,” McAvoy recalls.

He continued: “And just like [Liu] was like, 'Hey guys, this is my new boyfriend James'… instead of saying that, she was taken aside by a guy she went to high school with and walked away. I was just left standing there with all these people saying, 'Hey what's up, I'm new in town.'”

To make matters even more awkward, he said he turned to Aniston, 55, and said: “So, you’re Jennifer Aniston and you’re in Friends.”

McAvoy turned away from the camera for a moment to hide his embarrassment before adding: “It was hard. But she was beautiful.”

The atonement The actor is by far not the first person in Hollywood to fall in love with Aniston.

During the 2021 Friends Reunion special, David Schwimmer recalled having a “mad crush on Jen” while filming the first season of the classic sitcom.

“It was reciprocated,” Aniston replied.

Schwimmer explained the nature of their relationship, stressing that it never went beyond friendship. “I think at one point we both had serious crushes on each other, but it was like two ships passing each other because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that line,” he said. “We respected that.”
