Man arrested for murder of 3-year-old from Sandusky

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A man is facing charges after police say he killed a toddler in Sandusky.

Devin S. O'Brien, 29, is accused of murdering a three-year-old girl. The child's name has not yet been released by authorities.

According to Sandusky Police Chief Jared Oliver, O'Brien reported a young girl missing from a home in the 4000 block of Venice Road in Sandusky around 9 p.m. on Sept. 12. Officers then searched the area and found the child dead.

Chief Oliver said Friday that an autopsy showed the child died from strangulation and suffered blunt force trauma. He said there were also signs of sexual assault.

Authorities have not yet clarified the connection between the man and the child.

O'Brien is due to appear in court on Monday morning for arraignment.
