Mansfield Police Respond to Hotel Shooting

MANSFIELD – Police responded to reports of shots fired near a Mansfield hotel Thursday afternoon, leading to the arrest of a suspect in a neighboring town.

Mansfield Police arrived at the Red Roof Inn on Forbes Boulevard at approximately 3:42 p.m. on September 12, 2024, after receiving calls about shots fired in the area.

Upon arrival, officers from Mansfield encountered police officers from another jurisdiction who were conducting a drug investigation.

Before Mansfield Police arrived, the person under investigation attempted to flee in a black BMW, after which an officer fired a single shot at the vehicle.

The suspect's car was later found in North Attleboro and the man was arrested there.

Authorities did not disclose the identity of the suspect or specify the charges.

Police assured the public that there was no ongoing security threat.

The crime scene in the hotel was secured.

The investigation is being conducted by the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
