Cody Cameron's ranking 9/4

The Open 8

  1. (1-0) Freedom
  2. (1-0) Basha – What a season opener for quarterback Brodie Vehrs, class of 2026. The junior threw five touchdown passes in his very first start in the Bears' big win over Millard South.
  1. (1-0) Hamilton
  2. (1-0) Chandler
  3. (1-0) Red Mountain –DB Logan Haynie, class of 2025, is an early candidate for the title of one of my favorite defensive backs in the state.

  1. (0-1) Centenary – Brutal schedule to open, but still a top team in the state. They have another top 8 matchup against Highland on Friday.
  2. (1-0) ALA Queen Creek
  3. (1-0) Highland

6A Top 10 (open teams excluded)

  1. (1-0) Brophy
  2. (0-1) Williams Field – Despite the loss to Brophy, the Black Hawks move up my list. They are a good, well-coached team.
  3. (0-1) Climax
  4. (1-0) Perry- The Cougars looked fast and aggressive on defense last week. I was excited about the performance of this group in their Week 1 win over Desert Ridge.
  5. (1-0) Queen Creek – Great matchup against Casteel this week. The Bulldogs are looking to avenge a close 35-28 loss to the Colts from last season. Junior QB Tait Reynolds lit up Sunrise Mountain last week and one of his favorite players, senior WR Quintin Miles, had a heck of a game, hauling in 5 catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns.
  1. (1-0) Mountaintop
  2. (1-0) Castel
  3. (1-0) Mountain View
  4. (1-0) O’Connor
  5. (0-1) Chavez – The champs moved into the top 10 despite last week's loss. They competed against a top team in the state and almost made it. Proud of coach Hovik and his team!

5ATop10

  1. (1-0) Higley
  2. (0-1) Desert Edge – Offensively, it will be a tough first game for the Scorpions, but they won't be able to get a better opponent than Liberty unless they make it to the Open. LB Josh Hopphaus, born in 2025, is an absolute monster, I loved his game film against the Lions.

  1. (1-0) Wustenberg
  2. (1-0) Horizon
  3. (1-0) Marana- What a win for Marana in Week 1! Coach Steward and the team made history by defeating 6A Salpointe Catholic.
  4. (1-0) Cactus
  5. (1-0) Notre Dame Prep
  6. (1-0) ALA Gilbert North
  7. (1-0) Kellis

10.(1-0) McClintock
