Man from Campti arrested for drug offenses

NATCHITOCHES, La. (CALF) – According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office, a Campti man was arrested and illegal drugs were seized.

On September 12th at around 11:44 a.m., the NPSO stopped a truck that was Thomas Moore42, in the area of ​​La. Hwy 6 East near Memory Lawn Cemetery. Officers said while speaking with Moore, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana and he appeared nervous, which led them to believe criminal activity was occurring. Officers asked Moore if there were any illegal narcotics in the vehicle. According to NPSO, he immediately reached into the ashtray, pulled out a partially smoked suspected marijuana cigar/blunt and attempted to hand it to the officer. He then responded, “That's all I have.”

Deputies said Moore continued to act nervous and responded, “Every time he gets stopped, he goes to jail.” Moore has been arrested on drug charges before.

A search of the vehicle yielded a partially burned suspected marijuana cigar/blunt, a cellophane bag containing a small amount of suspected marijuana, four grams of suspected meth, and a glass smoking device commonly used for illegal narcotics.

Moore was arrested without incident and taken to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of meth – second of several offenses -, possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic violations.
