Two suspects arrested after shooting in Roxbury

BOSTON – Boston police arrested two suspects Friday in connection with a shooting that occurred in Roxbury earlier this month.

Elton Shepard, 66, of Hyde Park, was arrested around 9:45 a.m. near 150 Clare Avenue.

His son, Elton Shepard Jr., 42, of Boston, was arrested around 10:55 a.m. in Brookline.

Both men face charges including illegal possession of weapons, willful murder, discharging a firearm within 150 meters of a building and illegal possession of ammunition.

They are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

The arrests stem from an incident on Sept. 4, when officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation at 2359 Washington Street at 3:22 a.m. A victim of the shooting later arrived at the B-2 District Police Station, where officers provided medical aid.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Youth Violence Strike Force made both arrests based on warrants issued by the Roxbury District Court.
