Police shoot knife-armed murder suspect in Flatbush

According to NYPD investigators, a murder suspect armed with a knife was killed Friday night following a police-involved shooting in Flatbush.

They say officers were called to an apartment at 485 East 21st St. around 5:20 p.m.

According to authorities, officers were searching for a man who had an outstanding arrest warrant and was suspected of other crimes.

Investigators said they found a man, later identified as 38-year-old Vilmond Jean Baptiste, hiding in the bathtub.

The police noticed that he was armed with a knife and asked him several times to drop the knife.

They say a sergeant used a taser on the man, but it did not work.

According to police, Baptiste approached the officers and three of them shot Baptiste multiple times.

The officers then began life-saving measures.

According to police, Baptiste was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The officers were also taken to the hospital for examination.

According to police officials, Baptiste was arrested in 2015 for reckless endangerment.

According to police, Baptiste was also of interest in two separate murder cases involving three people.
