Perry Farrell punches Dave Navarro on stage at Jane's Addiction concert

The reunited Jane's Addiction's concert in Boston ended prematurely on Friday after singer Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro on stage in the middle of a song.

As a video of the show shows, during a performance of “Ocean Size,” Farrell became agitated for unclear reasons, walked up to Navarro, and rammed his shoulder into his back. An aggressive and still angry Farrell then continued to yell at the stunned Navarro, whereupon the singer finally landed a right hook to his longtime bandmate's shoulder:

“What the hell?” Navarro asked as a crew member held Farrell back. When the singer tried to evade the crew member and attack Navarro again, two more crew members and even bassist Eric Avery ran to restrain Farrell and escort him backstage. Navarro eventually left the stage as well and the concert ended after 11 songs, which is three or four songs less than a typical show so far during Jane's Addiction's now-threatened reunion tour.

Accordingly diversityWhatever had happened between the bandmates onstage in Boston had been brewing since August, when the Core Four's first joint tour in 14 years began. At previous stops, Farrell's long-winded banter with the audience had visibly frustrated Navarro onstage. diversity also points out that several concert reviews mentioned that Farrell drank a bottle of red wine on stage during the entire performance.

However, none of the early incidents — including two problematic shows in New York City earlier in the week — foreshadowed what happened in Boston: JamBase reported that the problem began during “Mountain Song,” when Farrell yelled at Navarro. The bickering continued during the next song, “Three Days,” and culminated in the “Ocean Size” punch.

Jane's Addiction has not yet commented on the altercation, and the incident was not mentioned on Avery's Instagram, which frequently posted while the band was on tour.

Liam Gallagher, an expert on in-band feuds, tweeted in response to Jane's Addiction's fight video: “Their attitude is shit.” When a fan joked that a similar incident would occur between Liam and Noel during the Oasis reunion tour, Liam replied: “I don't think we're very professional these days, we're going to knock you out.”

Jane's Addiction's reunion tour is set to resume — for now — on Sunday night in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The tour itself is set to end in the band's hometown of Los Angeles on October 16. This tour marked the first time in 14 years that the band's “core four” lineup — Farrell, Navarro, Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins — have toured together, and it comes after Navarro temporarily left the band due to his lengthy battle with Long Covid.
