Here is a recent soccer story from AP:

LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Liverpool have not conceded a goal this season and Mohamed Salah has scored in each of their three games, all victories.

If this is what the contract distractions at Anfield look like, new manager Arne Slot is OK with it.

Salah, captain Virgil van Dijk and right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold are all in the final year of their contracts and although it is still early in the Premier League season, Liverpool are the only team that can keep up with defending champions Manchester City.

Slot reiterated at a press conference on Friday that “we are not talking about contract situations here” – unless there is a new deal – and said the focus is on securing a fourth consecutive win when Nottingham Forest visit Merseyside on Saturday.

“I'm completely focused on the individual players and the team,” he said of the trio in question. “They're part of the team and I try to work with them as best I can to get the best out of them. So it's not a distraction for me at all.”

Jürgen Klopp’s transition went smoothly.

Slot is the first manager since Sven-Göran Eriksson at Man City in 2007 to win his first three Premier League games without conceding a single goal.

“It's not the defense that's preventing a clean game – it's 11 players that's preventing a clean game,” Slot said. “We're trying to convince them of that all the time, because in an ideal world we don't need (goalkeeper) Allison. It's a team effort that we don't allow, and that has a lot to do with the fact that we do a lot of work without the ball.”

Now, however, the schedule is full, with seven games scheduled over the next three weeks. Liverpool will play against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday.

During the international break, many Liverpool players played a lot of time for their national teams.

“Maybe I would like to do things a little differently in the future,” said Slot. “It's positive that we are so well positioned that we have 10 players who can play every minute for the national team. That says a lot about our quality.”

Salah won his 100th cap for Egypt with a goal in a 4-0 win over Botswana in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday. Salah is the only player to have scored three goals and provided three assists in the Premier League this season.

Harvey Elliott will be out for several weeks due to a broken foot, which Slot said is “a blow” for both the team and the midfielder.

“He would have had a lot of playing time in the coming games,” said the manager.
