Azerbaijan F1 Grand Prix 2024 – Qualifying Results

Charles Leclerc secured his fourth consecutive pole position at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku, leaving McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and his teammate Carlos Sainz behind.

Sergio Perez and George Russell were fourth and fifth respectively. Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton had to settle for sixth and seventh place respectively.

A bizarre incident occurred in Q3 when the airbox cooler on Alex Albon's FW46 was left behind when leaving the pit lane.

The 28-year-old was able to free it from the cockpit on his own and throw it to the edge of the race track.

Ultimately, however, it prevented him from reaching the timeline for a final push round, and the bug will be investigated after the session for an unsafe release.

Lando Norris was the surprise early exit of the session, with the British driver retiring in Q1 after having to abort his final qualifying lap due to the yellow flags caused by Esteban Ocon.
