Teenager killed in crash on Route 25 in Trumbull: Police – NBC Connecticut

An 18-year-old man from Rhode Island was killed in a traffic accident in Trumbull on Friday evening.

State police said a BMW X5, driven by an 18-year-old man from Cranston, Rhode Island, sideswiped a BMW X1, driven by a 61-year-old man from Braintree, Vermont, on Route 25 South near Exit 9 in Trumbull around 11 p.m.

According to the state police, the BMW X5 went out of control after the first collision, ended up in the middle lane, overturned and crashed into several trees.

Timothy Campbell, 18, of Cumberland, Rhode Island, was in the back seat and died at the scene of the accident, state police said.

The driver and two other passengers were injured and taken to hospital. Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.

No one in the other car was injured.

Route 25 South was closed for several hours while police investigated.

The Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Squad is assisting with the investigation.
