Mother arrested, accused of starving her five-day-old child, exposing her to drugs – KIRO 7 News Seattle

SEATTLE, Washington – A five-day-old child is dead and his mother has been arrested and charged with murder.

On the morning of September 11, Seattle Police Department detectives said they arrested Ashlee Creighton after she allegedly attempted to flee from them.

A man who helped her escape was also arrested.

According to King County court documents, Creighton called 911 in May and reported that she had had a stillbirth, but a thorough investigation determined that was not the case.

Investigators believe the child was born on May 18 at the Civic Hotel in Seattle.

According to police records, Creighton's call for help was not received until May 23.

According to court documents, a combination of meth and fentanyl was found in the little girl's system. The child also showed clear signs of malnutrition and dehydration.

Creighton's internet history allegedly included search terms such as “breastfeeding an addicted baby” and “Washington State law regarding reporting of hospital reports to Child Protective Services.”

Court documents further state that there was a message on her cellphone from someone investigators believe to be the father, saying, “I told you she needed to see a doctor.”

“Ashlee Creighton knew that her baby “not ok” and was in urgent need of medical attention,” court documents state.

“Despite being in a co-lead facility with 24/7 access to staff, resources and a working cell phone, the defendant took no action.”

Creighton's bail was set at $300,000 and the state is requesting a hearing to increase the bail because she is considered a flight risk.
