Ingram said that the penalties and three turnovers must not happen again. In view of the duel with Wisconsin On Saturday, he said things would not get easier for DeBoer's group in the future.

“Clean it up,” Ingram said in a recorded halftime show during Arizona Comparisons State of Kansas. “You've got to get it sorted out, man. Thirteen penalties for 120 yards, three touchdowns taken off the board. Before you learn how to win, you have to learn what keeps you from getting beat.

“And when you lose the ball and get penalties, you lose – especially with this tough schedule that they have. So they had three turnovers. I talked to Coach DeBoer this week and that's been the focus all week. Take care of the football on offense and lose the ball on defense. That's going to be a challenge for Alabama tomorrow.”

Both running games were on full display in Week 2. Jam Miller led for Alabama with 140 yards and a touchdown, while Judge Haynes also ran one in to go with 46 yards. Jalen Milroe also threw two touchdowns and totaled 194 passing yards. However, three different players – Miller, Milroe and Kendrick Law – Fumble balls were lost.

After the game, DeBoer said ball security was a focus during weekly preparation and he said it will continue to be the case.

“Every day there is something, but Tuesday is the highest priority,” DeBoer said. “We start by getting through the week. There are other things. We talk about the ball being part of the program and how important it is to take care of it and get it as well. And so we don't really need to increase the level of emphasizing it because we emphasize it significantly. And so the guys just learn that when they make a big play, there are guys behind them chasing them. They're coming from all directions, and we need to be more aware of that.

“The guy got a little bit off his game and took it a little easy. So we'll look at that on film. I don't know exactly how the fumbles happened, but I think a lot of the things we're talking about happened.”
