Starters Shyheim Brown and Jeremiah Byers are out for Florida State

The Florida State football team will be without two of its most experienced starters today when the Seminoles face Memphis at noon at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Experienced right tackle Jeremiah Byers will miss his second consecutive game due to an apparent lower body injury, and Junior Safety Shyheim Brown will also not be available for today's competition. Her absence was confirmed by Florida State to Warchant and other media on Saturday morning.

Florida State also has to do without linebackers Omar Graham Jr. And I'm Shawn Murphy. Graham was also absent last week and Murphy has not played this season.

While the news about Byers isn't entirely unexpected – he was seen walking with crutches at the Boston College game – Brown is the Seminoles' best tackler and emotional leader on defense. He hasn't missed a game since being cut from the roster in 2021, playing in all 13 games in 2022 and all 14 in 2023.

The Lake City product is Florida State's leading tackler with 21 tacklers in two games.

Earlier this week, FSU announced that running back/return specialist Jaylin Lucas is out for the rest of the season due to injury.

The Seminoles enter tonight's game 0-2, while Memphis is 2-0 and ranked 25th in the coaches poll.

Florida State is expected to celebrate a happy return as a second-year wide receiver today Hykeem Williams plays for the first time this season.
