The No. 2 Buckeyes (2-0) outscored their first two opponents 108-6 through the first two weeks of the 2024 college football season, proving the team under sixth-year coach Ryan Day is poised for a long run and a possible berth in the 12-team College Football Playoff in the newly expanded Big Ten this season.

OSU opened the season with a 52-6 win over in-state rival Akron and followed it up with a 56-0 win over Western Michigan in Week 2. The shutout was the Buckeyes' first in five years. After two weeks, Will Howard, who transferred from Kansas State, has caught 35 of 54 passes for 520 yards and four touchdowns, while sensational freshman Jeremiah Smit leads the team with 11 passes caught for 211 yards and three touchdowns.
