Toledo woman arrested after serious motorcycle accident while driving under the influence of alcohol

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Toledo police arrested a woman Friday who was involved in a crash that left several people with life-threatening injuries. Officers said she was driving while intoxicated and left the scene of the accident.

TPD officers arrested 55-year-old Marquetta Shahid of Toledo, Ohio, on Friday evening in connection with an accident that occurred near the 3300 block of Airport Highway. Officers said she was attempting to turn out of a private driveway when she collided with an eastbound motorcycle.

Officials said the two motorcycle passengers suffered “serious, life-threatening injuries” as a result of the collision. They were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Officers say Shahid fled the scene but later returned after emergency responders arrived. TPD then administered a breathalyzer and alcohol test, after which officers arrested her.

Shahid had a blood alcohol content of 0.132. That is 1.65 times the legal limit of 0.08 in Ohio. She is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, obstruction of public office and two counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle.

Shahid is due to appear in court on Monday.
