Police arrest man on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs

Essex Police have arrested a man on suspicion of drug driving following a serious crash on the A127 this morning which caused delays across south Essex.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “We were called to a collision between a car and a motorbike on the A127 near Dunton shortly after 9.30am this morning.

“We were on site together with colleagues from the emergency services and the road was closed while we were working on site.

“The motorcyclist, a man, was taken to hospital for treatment.

“He suffered serious injuries that are probably not life-threatening.

“A 38-year-old man from Upminster was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug driving and remains in custody for questioning.

“The road has now been reopened to traffic.

“Anyone with information that could assist our investigation should contact us as soon as possible.”
