Man arrested and charged in connection with fatal double shooting in Salisbury

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) – Salisbury police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal double shooting that left a 19-year-old dead at a fundraiser.

Adrian Nicholas Romero-Mandujano, 24, was arrested on Friday, Sept. 13. According to court documents, he allegedly took an AR-15 rifle and a handgun with him to the scene.

He was charged with destruction of evidence and held on $2,500 bail, which has since been posted.

Officials have not yet charged anyone in the shooting, which occurred Sunday, Sept. 8 in the 500 block of Oak Mountain Road.

Rafael Varela Angeles, 19, was shot in the chest and later died in the hospital.

Another person was shot and taken to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle. Their name was not released, but officials said they were in stable condition.
