Tennessee Football favored by a large margin against Kent State

The Vols are favorites against the Golden Flashes by as much as 49.5 points, the largest margin for a game in the Josh Heupel era.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Bookmakers have had no qualms about setting the spreads for Tennessee Football League's No. 7 team to face Kent State on Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

As of Thursday afternoon, the Vols have a lead of up to 49.5 points over the Golden Flashes, who have a 1-13 record since the start of last season.

The 49.5-point margin is the largest for a Tennessee team in the Josh Heupel era. The last time the Vols were favored by 49 or more points was in 2013, when the team was a 49-point favorite against Austin Peay.

Tennessee was a 48.5-point favorite against Austin Peay in 2023, but couldn't back that up with a 30-13 win over the Governors. The Vols were a 47.5-point favorite for a matchup against Akron in 2022, and this time Tennessee left no chance with a 63-6 win.

The Vols are 2-0 against spread teams this season and will be looking for another clean sweep on Saturday when Tennessee hosts Kent State under the lights at Neyland Stadium. Kickoff between the teams is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
