Fatal motorcycle crash in New Haven, Connecticut, under investigation

Both motorcyclists were thrown from their machines by the impact.

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut – According to Connecticut State Police, two motorcycles crashed on Route 34 in New Haven late Friday night, killing one of the riders.

After New Haven police notified state police of the fatal crash, patrol officers responded to Route 34 West near South Orange Street around 11:10 p.m.

According to state police, both motorcycles were traveling west on Route 34 and struck the other motorcycle at the intersection of South Orange Street, causing both riders to fall from their machines.

Both motorcyclists were taken to the hospital for their injuries. One of them, identified by state police as Noel Gonzalez, 49, of Waterbury, later died of his injuries. The 41-year-old motorcyclist from New Haven's injuries are not life-threatening, state police said.

The investigation into this accident is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at 203-696-2500.
